AfterCare
Here are a few pointers that are simple yet can help you take care of your apparels so that they look better and serve you longer.
Washing
If your cotton item has stains, pre-treat them with a stain remover before tossing them into the washing machine or washing them by hand
Warm or cool water is the best washing temperature to prevent shrinkage, stretching, and color bleeding. Cooler water temperatures will help prevent bright or darker colors from fading
Use the normal wash cycle [15-45 minutes based on load size]
The use of dryer sheets is optional with cotton
Do not dry-clean
Detergents & Fabric Softener
Liquid detergents are particularly effective on greasy, oily stains and can be easily used as a pre-treater for stain removal
Be cautious on the amount of detergent used
Powder detergents are very effective on mud stains but they may tend to leave a residue on the clothes, especially if the water is cold
Drying
Over-drying cotton not only causes some shrinkage but also excessive wrinkling
Select the permanent press setting for cotton clothes or use a lower dryer temperature setting
Remove from the dryer while slightly damp and hang the clothes to finish drying to prevent wrinkling
While the ultraviolet rays of the sun will help brighten white cotton clothes, hang colored cotton clothes away from direct sunlight to prevent fading
Ironing
Use a medium hot iron and always iron on the wrong side of cotton fabric
For extra protection, use a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric
For a crisp finish, spray the item with laundry starch or sizing while ironing
You can also use a clothes steamer or hang cotton clothes in a steamy bathroom to help remove wrinkling. This will give you a crisp finish and remove large wrinkles
Storage
The fabric needs to breathe longer term, so choose storage containers and bags made of natural materials and place them in cool, dry, and dark spaces
Avoid storing the clothes in airtight plastic containers
Avoid storing cotton items in attics and basements where temperatures and humidity fluctuate which could damage your items
We recommend hanging the apparels in a closet to prevent wrinkling
